Men's Counsellor for Anxiety, Depression & Baby Loss
Welcome, and thank you for visiting.
I’m Lee, an accredited BACP counsellor and EMDR therapist based in Cornwall. I specialise in working with men who are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and the often-unspoken pain of baby loss. I also provide clinical supervision for qualified counsellors and trainees.
My approach is calm, supportive and down-to-earth. Therapy with me isn’t about jargon or ticking boxes — it’s about real conversations that help you feel better, stronger and more able to live the life you want.
Many men reach a point where life just feels stuck. The spark has gone. Things you once enjoyed: sports, music, time with friends don’t feel the same anymore. You might find yourself tense, snapping at loved ones, constantly on edge or worried about the future.
Anxiety and depression can also take a toll on your body: racing heart, poor sleep, digestive issues, fatigue. You may have tried to sort things out alone, but it just hasn’t shifted.
Therapy gives you a space to talk honestly and work on the changes you want. With the right support, you can:
I know how hard it can feel to reach out, but counselling is not weakness: it’s one of the strongest steps you can take.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy for trauma, PTSD, and other mental health difficulties. It’s recommended by NICE and the World Health Organisation for PTSD, but is also effective for:
Complex trauma and adverse childhood experiences
When traumatic experiences aren’t fully processed, they can stay “stuck” in the brain, replaying as flashbacks, nightmares or anxiety. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds or taps).
You don’t have to relive every detail you simply notice what comes up, while I guide you through the process. Over time, the memory loses its intensity and the distress reduces. Many people feel lighter, calmer, and less burdened by the past.
Supervision isn’t just a requirement, it’s the foundation of safe, ethical and effective counselling. As practitioners, we carry a lot for our clients. Having the right supervision ensures we’re protecting them and looking after ourselves.
Counselling supervision is:
Supervision is increasingly recognised as essential for developing and restoring practitioners, improving client outcomes, and ensuring safety in practice (Exeter University, 2023).
I use the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision to help you reflect on your practice, deepen your awareness, and grow in confidence. As a supervisor I am calm, kind and encouraging, offering a supportive space where you can bring challenges and celebrate progress.
Experience supporting person-centred counsellors, low intensity CBT practitioners and trainees
Training to be a counsellor can feel overwhelming at times. Supervision provides support, reassurance and guidance to help you become a confident, ethical practitioner. I also offer reduced rates for trainees -please contact me for details.
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
Counselling can help with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, baby loss, trauma, stress, and relationship difficulties. It gives you a safe, supportive space to work through challenges and make positive changes.
No. Counselling is about more than talking — it’s about finding ways to understand yourself, manage challenges differently, and move forward with more confidence.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds or taps) to help the brain reprocess distressing memories. Over time, the memory loses its intensity and the emotional distress reduces.
EMDR is effective for trauma and PTSD, but also helps with anxiety, depression, grief, OCD, addictions, anger, and adverse childhood experiences.
It varies from person to person. Some people feel significant relief in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support depending on their history and needs.
