Men's Counsellor for Anxiety, Depression & Baby Loss
Welcome, and thank you for visiting.
I’m Lee, an accredited BACP counsellor and EMDR therapist based in
Cornwall. I specialise in helping men who are struggling with anxiety,
depression, OCD, trauma and the pain that comes with baby loss. I also offer clinical supervision for counsellors and trainee therapists.
My way of working is calm, supportive and down-to-earth. Sessions with me are about real conversations that help you make sense of things, reduce anxiety and feel more in control. Together, we work towards helping you feel stronger, more confident and ready to move forward in life.
If you are looking for counselling in Cornwall or online therapy across the UK, I provide a safe and confidential space where you can talk openly and start to feel better.

Send me a message if you’re ready to talk, or even if you’re just thinking about it. That first step might feel big, but it could be the start of something better.
Many men reach a point where life feels stuck. The spark has gone, and things that used to matter such as sport, music, mates or family time just don’t feel the same anymore. You might find yourself tense, snappy, or constantly on edge. Sleep may be poor, your heart might race, and you can’t switch your mind off. Worry and self-doubt take over, and no matter how hard you try to sort it out on your own, nothing seems to change.
Anxiety and depression can affect your mood, your body and your relationships. You might feel exhausted, detached, or angry without really knowing why. These are common signs of stress, burnout or trauma, and they are nothing to be ashamed of.
Therapy gives you a safe space to talk openly and start finding a way forward. It is not about fixing you, but about understanding what is really going on and helping you feel stronger, calmer and more like yourself again.
With the right support, you can:
I know it is not easy to reach out, especially if you are used to coping alone. But counselling is not a sign of weakness. It is one of the strongest things you can do for yourself and for those you care about.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a proven and evidence-based therapy that helps people recover from trauma, PTSD and other emotional difficulties. It is recommended by NICE and the World Health Organisation for treating PTSD, but it can also be highly effective for a wide range of issues including:
* Anxiety and panic attacks
* Depression and low mood
* Baby loss and grief
* Addictions and compulsive behaviours
* OCD and intrusive thoughts
* Anger, irritability and emotional outbursts
* Complex trauma and difficult childhood experiences
Many men who try EMDR say they feel less weighed down by the past and more in control of their thoughts and emotions.
When a traumatic or painful experience isn’t fully processed, the brain can store it in a “stuck” state. This can show up as flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, anger or constant overthinking. EMDR helps your brain process these memories properly so they lose their emotional intensity and no longer trigger the same distress.
During EMDR, I use a method called bilateral stimulation, which involves gentle eye movements, sounds or taps. You do not have to relive every detail of what happened. You simply notice what comes up while I guide you through the process in a calm and supportive way.
Over time, the memories become less painful and your nervous system begins to settle. You may notice you feel calmer, lighter and more present in everyday life. EMDR can help you move forward without the weight of old experiences holding you back.
I am a Bupa recognised counsellor and EMDR therapist, which means if you have a Bupa health insurance policy, you can use it to access therapy with me.
Bupa covers a range of mental health treatments including counselling, CBT, and EMDR therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, baby loss and stress-related issues.
If you’re a Bupa member, getting started is straightforward. You’ll need to:
Once that’s in place, your therapy sessions can begin …… either face to face in Helston, Cornwall or online anywhere in the UK.
I work with many men who use Bupa health insurance to access counselling or EMDR therapy. It’s a confidential, professional service that helps you deal with anxiety, depression, trauma and life’s challenges in a calm, supportive environment.
Whether you want to focus on managing stress, improving confidence, healing from the past or rebuilding after loss, therapy can help you find your footing again.

Supervision isn’t just a requirement, it’s the foundation of safe, ethical and effective counselling. As practitioners, we carry a lot for our clients. Having the right supervision ensures we’re protecting them and looking after ourselves.
Counselling supervision is:
Supervision is increasingly recognised as essential for developing and restoring practitioners, improving client outcomes, and ensuring safety in practice (Exeter University, 2023).
I use the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision to help you reflect on your practice, deepen your awareness, and grow in confidence. As a supervisor I am calm, kind and encouraging, offering a supportive space where you can bring challenges and celebrate progress.
Experience supporting person-centred counsellors, low intensity CBT practitioners and trainees
Training to be a counsellor can feel overwhelming at times. Supervision provides support, reassurance and guidance to help you become a confident, ethical practitioner. I also offer reduced rates for trainees -please contact me for details.
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
Counselling can help with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, baby loss, trauma, stress, and relationship difficulties. It gives you a safe, supportive space to work through challenges and make positive changes.
No. Counselling is about more than talking — it’s about finding ways to understand yourself, manage challenges differently, and move forward with more confidence.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds or taps) to help the brain reprocess distressing memories. Over time, the memory loses its intensity and the emotional distress reduces.
EMDR is effective for trauma and PTSD, but also helps with anxiety, depression, grief, OCD, addictions, anger, and adverse childhood experiences.
It varies from person to person. Some people feel significant relief in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support depending on their history and needs.
