Men's Counsellor and EMDR Therapist working with Anxiety, Depression and Baby loss in Porthleven, Helston, Cornwall and Online

As Featured in Counselling Directory: Supporting Fathers After Baby Loss

Baby loss changes everything.

For many fathers and partners, the grief can be confusing, isolating and hard to put into words. While much of the support understandably focuses on mothers, many men find themselves trying to stay strong, return to work, and hold everything together — often while quietly carrying trauma, anxiety or a deep sense of loss.

I recently had an article published in Counselling Directory exploring how fathers experience baby loss, why many men grieve differently, and how this can impact their mental health.

👉 You can read the full Counselling Directory article on fathers and baby loss here:

Baby Loss: Why Fathers and Partners often grieve in silence

In the article, I discuss:

  • Why some men feel pressure to suppress their grief

  • The impact of miscarriage and stillbirth on fathers

  • Trauma responses following hospital or medical experiences

  • The long-term emotional effect when grief isn’t processed

Baby loss doesn’t just affect one person in a relationship. Many men experience anxiety, anger, guilt, emotional numbness, or intrusive memories afterwards but feel unsure whether they’re “allowed” to seek support.

As a therapist specialising in Mens Baby Loss in the U.K, I work with fathers and partners navigating miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss.

Where trauma symptoms are present such as flashbacks, avoidance, or ongoing distress linked to medical experiences:   I also integrate EMDR for Trauma after Baby Loss to help process those experiences safely and effectively.
