A lot of men know something is not right.
But finding the time, space, or even the willingness to sit in a counselling room can feel like a step too far.
Work is busy. Life is full. There is always something else that needs sorting first.
So things get pushed down. Carried quietly. Managed as best as possible.
Online counselling offers a different way in.
Why Many Men Are Choosing Online Therapy
For a lot of men, it is not about avoiding help. It is about finding a way that actually fits.
Online counselling removes some of the barriers that stop men reaching out in the first place.
There is no travel.
No waiting rooms.
No pressure to explain everything straight away.
You can speak from your own space, in a way that feels more natural.
For some, that makes all the difference.
What Online Counselling Is Actually Like
There is a common assumption that online therapy is somehow less effective.
In reality, it can feel just as focused and supportive as face to face work.
Sessions are relaxed, structured around you, and move at your pace.
We focus on what is going on for you now, what feels stuck, and what needs to shift.
That might include:
- Anxiety that keeps showing up
- Overthinking and difficulty switching off
- Relationship struggles or uncertainty
- Feeling low, flat, or disconnected
- Loss and grief that has not been processed
If baby loss is part of your experience, you can read more about that here:

When Talking Feels Like It Is Not Enough
Some men come to therapy having already tried to talk things through.
They understand what is going on, but it still does not shift.
This is where approaches like EMDR can help.
EMDR focuses on processing experiences that feel stuck, rather than just talking about them. It can be particularly helpful for anxiety, past events, and ongoing distress that does not seem to settle.
I have recently submitted my accreditation with the EMDR Association UK, which reflects the level of training and experience behind this work.

Who This Is For
Online counselling can be a good fit if you recognise yourself in any of this:
- You are keeping things going on the outside but struggling underneath
- You are not sure therapy is for you, but you know something needs to change
- You do not want to sit in a waiting room or explain yourself face to face straight away
- You are dealing with anxiety, relationship stress, or loss
- You want something practical, not overcomplicated
You do not need to have everything worked out before starting.
Support That Works Around You
One of the biggest benefits of online therapy is flexibility.
Sessions can fit around work, family, and day to day life.
You can access support from anywhere in the UK, without needing to be local to Cornwall.
For some men, that makes it easier to start. For others, it simply makes it possible.
If you are based locally and would prefer face to face sessions, you can find more about that here:

A Different Way to Begin
Not everyone feels ready to reach out straight away.
For some men, the first step is reading, understanding, or making sense of what they are going through in their own time.
That is part of the reason I have written a book focused on men dealing with loss and emotional struggle. It offers a way to begin without pressure.
You Do Not Have to Keep Doing This Alone
You do not need the right words.
You do not need to be sure it will work.
You just need a starting point.
Online counselling offers a way to begin, in a space that feels more manageable and on your terms.
Send me a message if youβre ready to talk, or even if youβre just thinking about it. That first step might feel big, but it could be the start of something better.
